One of the things I love most about living in the country is waking up in the morning to beauty just outside my bedroom window. Some mornings it’s pink and peach colored clouds reflecting the sunrise. Some mornings it’s our cows grazing along the fence. Cows are so serene.
This morning I was graced with this beautiful moonset.
I thought about laying there and watching it slowly descend, but I decided to share it. So I hopped out of bed, threw on my fuzzy purple robe (The one the kids got me several years ago. I look like Barney the purple dinosaur, and it goes so well with my pink and white striped flannel pajamas), grabbed my camera which is thankfully already on the tripod, hunted around for and eventually found my sliders, and hurried outside. The deck has a sheen of ice from yesterday’s drizzle and the dog and I both just about biffed it.
Another nice thing about living in the country. I can run outside at moonset in my fuzzy purple robe and pink striped PJs carrying a camera on a tripod, do the “trying-not-to-fall breakdance” on the deck with the dog, and no one will see it. Rural living rules.
The dog and I make off the deck without injury and he shuffles off to find rabbits while I set up the camera. The wind is brisk and Holy Buckets it’s cold!! Gah!! My fingers are going numb as I set up the camera, but I got a few shots. This one was in focus, so I decide it’s good enough and hurry back in while I can somewhat still feel my extremities. This time I’m careful about the deck and no breakdance happens.
Coffee warms me back up and the dog is back inside having his breakfast.
This is only my second blog post ever. I hope it comes out okay. I’m still slowly building the blog website. I’m at the point where I need to get an email subscription service and learn to make an About Page, sign up with some affiliates and decide how many ads I want. (Not many, I promise.) I also want to meet with my accountant before launching this blog to be sure I handle it properly as a business. That meeting is next week. In the meantime, I’ll keep creating articles and schooling myself in this new endeavor.
Enjoy the beautiful full moon and embrace beauty wherever you find it.
